So we love doing our Top 5′s! and we know you love reading them. Also, Carl and I love music about as much as anything. And we thought a good category would be songs that really get you pumped up. These songs aren’t necessarily ones that you would listen to before trying to max out on the bench press (though they might be) but could be songs that just give you goose bumps. So enjoy and share your faves as well!
Carl’s Top 5 pump up, get you moving songs!
- 2×4 – Blind Melon
- One More Time – Daft Punk
- Jane Says – Jane’s Addiction
- Interstate Love Song – Stone Temple Pilots
- The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth – Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
My list goes to show that I am clearly stuck in the 90′s, minus clap your hands say yeah, but the songs included here are classics. Just listen to the opening drums of Glen gram on 2×4 followed by some intense lyrics. One more time brings me back to college and also to many weddings. If One more time is played I will dance and jump and have a white man overbite. Jane Says with her steel drum magically brings me back to summer time, warm weather and the feeling of “kicking tomorrow”. Interstate Love song makes me want to drive not only on any open interstate but any road with my windows down so the wind can wrastle with my long tuft of hair along with my music loud (but not too loud cause of my poor left ear), and finally the skin of my yellow country teeth is fun, happy and makes me want to bounce, I’m serious bounce..
Josh’s Top 5 pump up, get you moving songs!
- Juicy – Notorious B.I.G.
- Time to Pretend – MGMT
- Desire – Pharoahe Monch
- Hooker with a penis – Tool
- Mr. Carter – Lil’ Wayne
My list would change almost year by year and has certainly changed a lot than say ten years ago (except for Hooker w/ a penis – a song listened to before every game during my senior year as a Monk). The dominance of rap on here is something that is relatively new. Even a few years ago I don’t think I could ever get excited or pumped up by rap. However, my love for rap, combined with the general decline of rock, has led to me even not only liking but preferring rap to get pumped. This was illustrated by listening to Mr. Carter all before Tom’s wedding (and me Jesse and Zach listening almost exclusively to lil’ wayne while in NOLA). And then there is Juicy – greatest song ever.

This is a very diverse list, I love it! Nice to see lesser known artists like Pharoe Monche make a list! I just saw another pump up songs list the other day that had a few underground artists on it as well! Long live hip hop!
(Eye of the Tiger) x 5
well fellas,
so the better half told me you got some pump you up songs on your blog. i had her read them off to me. “i say what?” was my reaction. that was when i realized i pump you up songs are songs that don’t actually get you pumped up. kind of a weird title name i guess. so then i went and listened to the music you guys put up there since i actually know maybe three of those titles. after listening to it counting the three i know i might listen to six of those songs again if it is my choice. carl daft punk got me good tone. clap your hands not so much. all your others i would listen to, but believe me not to get me pumped up.
joshaway, you hurt me man. HWAP, juicy is all i could stand dude. sorry i hope rap brings you back at some point to good music. i know there is plenty of good rap out there, just none you showed up with.
so since i commented on your music i suppose i need to throw down mine. i would just like a little help i am not sure how you get your music so people can hear it so if you could do that for me. that would be great. also since your subject title is two parts i am going to do two lists
here they are: (in no paricular order)
pump you up songs
Baba O’Reiley- The Who
welcome to the jungle- GNR
fortunate son- either CCR or Dropkick Murphy’s
Eye of the Tiger- Survivor
Lose yourself- Eminem(hate him, but great song)
these songs make me want to go ten rounds with james “buster” douglas. hopefully the who perform BO’R at the superbowl.
Get you movin’ songs
Enemy- days of the new
Bleed it out- linkin park
Gimme Shelter- Rolling Stones
Feel Good Inc.- Gorrilaz
Duality- Slipknot
Listen to these tracks they will get you movin’
so when you throw out a top five list just make sure they are songs that are actually good! i can contribute anytime you need the help. just ask.
are you both speechless because you are thinking that i am smarter wiser and better looking?
Hurlburt are you kidding me? first you have linkin park on your list. 2nd i love the gorillaz but feel good inc. as a pump up song? 3rd fortunate son. but you do have some classics i will admit. however, to each their own though i am a little dissapointed that you don’t approve of tool.
anyway we all know that the smarter wiser and better looking part is simply not true.
j-beer,
well if you look at the gorillaz they are on the get you movin’ section. you two are the tards that came up with the title that doesn’t fit! second have you heard that song by linkin park? probably not i am guessing. take a listen and if you are still going to be ignorant than so be it. don’t knock it before you try it right? i approved of tool, i see it, i just don’t agree top five.
Josh,
CPH is a bit jealous that he can’t figure out how to create a blog on his own that has a mass following.
CPH,
We appreciate your comments and minimal contribution, stay tuned for our next post!
Carl
“jane says”? — really? — it’s a great song, but doesn’t get you moving. maybe “stop” to get you moving (a little ironic there perhaps) … or coming down the mountain… or ocean size — ((although three days is one of the awesomest — but maybe not ‘get you moving’ song)) — but i vote NO for jane says as getting you moving…
CashInNowBaby, thanks for your comment. What would your top 5 pump songs be? Jane Says gets me moving!
wow, that clap your hands and say yeah so is awesome. i gotta check them out.
Josh mi amigo, I do like MGMT alot! good call my friend.
